When I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I felt like my entire life changed, much like what other people thought I’m sure. My whole life I never had to worry about what I was putting in my body or having to take extra time to prepare for activities or vacations, but now it is something that is necessary to always be on the forefront of my mind. Most things diabetics do like eating, exercising, going out on day trips, or even driving is something we have to consider and make sure we have our insulin or that our blood sugar is in a good range and that we won’t go too low or too high. It’s not just a disease or disability, it’s a whole new life that changes people. It’s such an underrated and undereducated disease and can make people feel very alone, so my goal and intention are to help educate people and make them feel less alone on this journey.
